Housegroups

Informal, low-key gatherings of
6 to 12 people

Our housegroups are informal, low-key gatherings of 6 to 12 people, meeting either weekly or fortnightly in members’ homes. Within an unthreatening environment we share our concerns and pray together; and explore aspects of our Christian faith and discipleship, with the Bible as our guide. Sometimes we study a book of the Bible, or the relevant lectionary readings for the coming Sunday. In Lent we often follow one of the recommended study courses – e.g. York courses; from time to time current issues form the basis for our discussion.

Our purpose is to support and encourage one another in our Christian pilgrimage, and to seek to discover what God is calling us to do in our different contexts. There is often a global dimension to our discussions as we consider issues of justice and peace.

We see housegroups as an essential part of the life of the church community. At present, three are operating on a regular basis. One meets Wednesday afternoons, another Tuesday evenings and another Thursday evenings. New members are very welcome to attend.
